Memorial Service Held in Remembrance of Dr. Hiroshi Ueda

 A memorial service and tribute symposium were held on June 10, 2023, in memory of the late Professor Hiroshi Ueda, who passed away on December 23, 2022. The solemn event took place at Suzukake Hall, Tokyo Institute of Technology. The faculty and staff of our University and other esteemed participants assembled to offer their prayers for the eternal repose of the departed soul.


 During the symposium, Associate Professor Tetsuya Kitaguchi (Laboratory for Chemistry and Life Science, Institute of Innovative Research at Tokyo Institute of Technology), Professor Jinhua Dong (University of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences), and Professor Hideo Nakano (Nagoya University) shared their cherished memories of Professor Ueda and the collaborative research endeavors and achievements they accomplished together.


 During the memorial service, Professor Masaaki Fujii, the Director of the Laboratory for Chemistry and Life Science, presented an introduction to the distinguished career path of Professor Hiroshi Ueda. The event also included speeches from esteemed speakers, including Professor Kazuya Masu, the President of Tokyo Institute of Technology, Professor Naoto Ohtake, the Director of the Institute of Innovative Research, Professor Yaw-Kuen Li from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Professor Masafumi Yohda from Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, and Mr. Kenta Omori representing HikariQ Health Inc. Each speaker shared their treasured memories and meaningful experiences with Professor Hiroshi Ueda. Moreover, a heartfelt video message was sent from Professor Ueda's former mentor, Nobel Prize laureate, Sir Gregory P. Winter, from the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology. Following the floral tributes, all the participants offered their prayers for the eternal repose of Professor Ueda's soul, honoring his remarkable contributions and enduring legacy.
